Born in Cambridgeshire, England, Mike Bayon discovered a passion for flying from an early age. He was educated at Marlborough College prior to joining the Pathfinder force, a group in the RAF which operated during World War II. As a fighter plane navigator his bravery in combat was recognised with the award of a Distinguished Flying Cross. He fought alongside courageous men and women to prevent the ‘unthinkable’ happening; Nazi Germany’s success. Following retirement he has developed a career in garden design, having previously worked as a teacher and a magazine columnist.
