And we started talking. Actually, what I found interesting... we started a completely stupendous discussion on... He had started off on technical problems, because there are some directors who don't touch anything, nothing at all, and who if they don't have someone next to them you wonder how they would make a film. For example Mocky. He doesn't do anything, he doesn't know what 'une americaine' is, he doesn't know anything. But there are others who always need... But that are... We were saying the most difficult is to know where to put the camera, guys who come in, in the morning, who walk around the set with the viewfinder and then who say, 'Well, mate, it isn't going to be easy, I wonder where you're going to put your machine'. But in general people know what we're talking about, and in particular people like Godard, he's a guy who knows everything from A to Z. So... and when he asks questions it's because he wants to be annoying, so he asks stupid questions like, 'But why are the projectors on stands? Couldn't we attach them to the ceiling' or I don't know, anything. And that's when he wants to annoy people.

So with Garrel it was unbelievable, for example he would say... since the lenses can be fitted on different cameras, he would say, 'You take the 50 mm, you fit it on a Moviecam, you do a shot, you take it off, you keep the 50 mm, you take away the Moviecam, you fit it on an Arri and the shot isn't the same'. We say, 'But listen, it would be the other way around, if we said: we take a camera, we change, we take a 50 mm, a Zeiss and then you take Taylor-Hobson instead', so there the shot is different, that's true. But if it's the same lens the camera behind it is just a machine, the shot is always the same'. So no, no no, not at all. So after some explanations about the lights I don't like HMI, I don't like that, I don't like quartz, I don't like... so suddenly it was starting to irritate me but afterwards when he said... he had... Unfortunately I don't remember who it was, there was a star who was suppose to do the film, so I was quite interested because I thought: when he's going to do his directing, when he's going to go on about these stories, it will be hilarious to see the expression on the guys' face.
