So following Dien Bien Phu I found Schoendoerffer and so he had decided... he had decided not to... Well, all the people that were released from Dien Bien Phu... So there's a little something about dialectics, I have to talk about it because it's very, very funny.

First of all there was, I mean when we were... when we waited for the release of the prisoners in the camps where we went, the Vietnamese had set up bamboo tables, there was tea and cigarettes which were their cigarettes, made by them, which weren't great but that's normal... I mean, because it was still a country at war. And at one point there were Viet Nimh journalists who came to talk with us. And then suddenly the guy that was next to me takes out a pack of American cigarettes, I don't remember the brand, so and then he offers him one. And so the guy quickly says, 'No, I can't smoke capitalist cigarettes'. So he continues his conversation. And then after a while he stops and says, 'Wait, may I? I'm still going to have one because in the end the American people aren't responsible for their government'.

[Q] It's extraordinary.

It's part of it all. I might tell another story of the same nature but later on.
