FAQs
How do I register?
You do not need to register with Web of Stories to view stories but if you want to add your own story, leave a comment on another story, read a transcript or embed a video then you need to register.
To register click here and fill in your details;, you will then be sent an email.
To complete your registration, click on the link in the email or copy and paste the link into your browser.
How do I record my story?
If you have a webcam installed on your computer click on the TELL YOUR STORY tab at the top of the page and you will be taken to the Web of Stories recorder. You should now see your face in the recorder;, if you can't, check that you have the correct camera selected from the dropdown menu. Follow the on-screen instructions to record your story.
Can I add my story to Web of Stories if I don't have a webcam?
Yes. If you don't have a webcam on your computer you can still add your story to Web of Stories but you will have to record it on another device and add your story using the upload function. Click on the TELL YOUR STORY tab and follow the on-screen instructions.
How do I embed a story in my website?
You can embed any of the videos on Web of Stories on your website.
Click on the embed icon (
) in the video bar to access the embed link.
The video I am trying to watch won't play.
Firstly check your internet connection and make sure that you have sufficient bandwidth to view a video. If this is not the problem then click on the broken link icon (
) in the video player bar to report the problem.
Where can I find a transcript?
Web of Stories has prepared a transcript of the story for many of the contributors to the Lives channel.
Transcripts can be accessed by clicking TRANSCRIPT on the bar below the video player, along with Information and Biography.
You must be signed-in in order to access the transcript.
If you do not see a button labelled Transcript on this bar then a transcript does not exist for the story you are watching.
A transcript is available for all non-English language contributors to the Lives channel in both English and the speaker's native language.
What is a related story?
If you have enjoyed the story you have just watched then why not try a related story. Related stories make connections with other stories about the same people, places, events or publications that have been talked about in the story.
Can I comment on a story?
Yes. To leave a comment on a story click on LEAVE A COMMENT below the related stories.

How do I share a story?
You can share a story by clicking on one of the share icons in the video player bar.
I don't think the content of the video I've just watched is suitable. What can I do?
Web of Stories does not screen the content of videos recorded or uploaded by users. If you have watched a story that you think is inappropriate then please let us know by clicking on the flag icon (
) on the video bar.
