Explaining everything, I think that there are some who explain a lot of things but who explain the essential and who answer questions if we want to ask them. Jean-Luc isn't- So for example François I mean you asked him questions and he answered. You'd tell him- So what are we going to do? So he would explain to you why he wanted to do things like that. So even if it meant asking for an opinion, what do you think? etc. I mean. Jean-Luc never asks anyone what they think, once it's filmed he might eventually ask whether it was good or bad. But he only trusts himself. But at the same time to a certain extent I think that he's right, to the extent where he's the only one who can do what he does.
Expliquer tout, je pense qu'il y en a qui expliquent beaucoup de choses mais qui expliquent l'essentiel et qui répondent aux questions si on veut leur en poser. Jean-Luc il a ce côté de ne pas- Bon par exemple François je veux dire on peut lui poser des questions, il répond, il répondait. Tu lui dis- Tiens qu'est-ce qu'on va faire  ? Alors il vous expliquait pourquoi il avait envie de faire ça comme ça. Bon quitte à demander l'avis, qu'est-ce que tu en penses ? etc. Je veux dire. Jean-Luc il ne demande jamais à qui que ce soit ce qu'il en pense, une fois que c'est tourné éventuellement il peut demander si c'était bien ou pas bien je veux dire. Mais il ne se fie qu'à lui. Mais en même temps dans une certaine mesure je pense qu'il a raison dans la mesure où ce qu'il fait il n'y a que lui qui peut le faire.

French cinematographer, Raoul Coutard (1924-2016) was twice nominated for the César Award for best cinematography which he won in 1978 for 'Le Crabe-tambour'. He made over 75 films and documentaries, including 'À Bout de Souffle', Le Mépris' and 'Band à Part'. He was the most acclaimed French cinematographer of his generation and one of the key figures of the New Wave.

As an assistant director, he worked with many important filmmakers, including Luis Buñuel, François Jacob, Otto Preminger and Woody Allen. He was a founding member of the Ciné-Qua-Non cinema club and has acted as editor and translator for various publications on the world of cinema.

Bernard Cohn est un réalisateur et écrivain français, ayant réalisé cinq film ainsi que de nombreux reportages et séries télévisées. En tant qu'assistant réalisateur, il a travaillé avec plusieurs grands cinéastes, notamment Luis Buñuel, François Truffaut, Otto Preminger et Woody Allen. Il fut membre fondateur du ciné-club Ciné-Qua-Non et a participé à la rédaction et traduction en anglais, de plusieurs ouvrages sur le cinéma.
