Właśnie niezwykły moment w historii polskiej kultury – lata 50., 60. i jeszcze 70.

As for our group, Teraz, we had no ambitions at that point to conquer the world, but there was an amusing incident when Agnieszka Osiecka came to the Klub pod Jaszczurami and told one of our friends who was in the club, 'You look very much like Marek Hłasko', that he physically resembled him. This amused me greatly because it has to be said that Marek Hłasko was also a symbol of those times, his short but spectacular career. This was true of Iwaszkiewicz, too, and literature was flourishing at that point. That was an extraordinary moment in the history of Polish culture – the '50s, '60s and even '70s.

Adam Zagajewski (1945-2021) was a Polish poet, novelist, translator and essayist. He was awarded the 2004 Neustadt International Prize for Literature, the 2016 Griffin Poetry Prize Lifetime Recognition Award and the 2017 Princess of Asturias Award for Literature. He is considered as one of the leading poets of the Generation of '68 or the Polish New Wave (Polish: Nowa fala) and is one of Poland's most prominent contemporary poets.
